Yesterday I went skating for about 6 hours, following which I went dancing for 2 more.
Intermittently, I tried to smoke a shi sha at my local, and favourite, lebanese diner- "Byblos". (If ever you should have the chance to frequent the place, should you unfortunately find yourself a stray vegan in middlesbrough, then I suggest that you do, and say hello to Sam for me) However, now is the day after, and I feel poisoned, I can hardly walk, I shake when trying to lift the kettle to make a hot drink. I think I've been poisoned in some way. I won't admit that I'm actually unfit, out of practice, unhealthy in my lifestyle (and my thoughts, generally) and engage in large quantities of e-activity, like, making a blog, rather than swimming, or say.......tennis. Pah. My transcendental mind's body is a temple within a temple, even if this one is just a shitshack. Monday, March 01, 2004what does a hometown do to you?Despite my usually ever-increasing disgust at the general loutish inadequacies of Middlesbrough, today, something very special happened for the average person living here. We won something in football. I don't know what all of this means to you, but to us, it's incredible. Football has always undeniably been the most popular sport of Middlesbrough, indeed, football is often tracked exclusively, over anything else, by many of Middlesbrough FC's fans. My disgust turned to delight, as people danced in the streets, the atmosphere lacking even a hint of the usually violent overtones of the night, children ran out to shout their elation at the recent result, whilst others, including myself, took in the significance of the event. For the first time in 128 years, our team, had won something. I don't follow football, but try to keep up to date with Middlesbrough's progress, nonetheless. So I confess, I was extremely happy to hear the result on the radio, having not paid to watch on SKY TV (such a frustration that you now have to PAY to experience something the same way as everyone else, I wish Rupee wasn't as vicious an entrepreneur as he is... grrr) I felt a great sense of relief, as well as happiness, even though I haven't seen a single match in the last year. I feel like a phoney, but happily admit that I don't find a huge deal of joy when watching football, just in the playing of the sport itself... is this so strange?! Later on I went to see ASH at the town hall. *yaaawn* - review up on acastofthousands tomorrow. Saturday, February 28, 2004jeniferever forever
For the past two years I've hooked up with a couple of friends from Sweden, who are all in a group called Jeniferever.
I've missed them a lot recently, but the photos of the tour are funny enough to keep me happy. Go check their music out, they are basically, amazing. Ralph Friday, February 27, 2004my last post got me the sack.Well, my last post got me fired. So I'm now looking for some kind of employment. Tonight, I head to another isolated labour factory, this time it shall be CHURCHILL INSURANCE. Let's hope they have just as a high a sense of self-depreciating humour, eh?? Please, if you have any work going for a twerp like me, I'm available 24/7 at acastofthousands@hotmail.com However, my newly found status as 'terminated' has given me unfathomably large portions of time for internet browsing... There are way too many beautiful looking websites out there to count. Unfortunately mine isn't one of them :( To quickly browse through some nice eye candy, here's a couple I've been having a gander at recently. www.suction.com www.stamen.com www.spumco.com www.amaze.co.uk www.potatoland.org Also, for music, Absorb is looking incredibly strong right now. Propps to Sheikh for neverending commitment to geekdom. Monday, January 12, 2004
OH GOD! It's worse than I thought!
I'm learning how to be 'compliant' with Oftel, an independant regulatory body that monitors my calls and "ALL OPERATIONS". Deep shit huh? Well, no, look: it's all very simple: http://business.intra.bt.com/comply/images/mr0062.gif We have to let people know, in the best and most compliant way possible, which way, is the best way to go. Oh god, is this shit actually believable to people in the real world?
ever again.
Today I've been wandering round my local town of Middlesbrough. I'm bombarded by the humiliating feeling that I have absolutely nothing to relate to all the people around me, no smac, no addidas tracksuit bottoms and I feel I can safely inform everyone that I certainly don't posses a burberry scarf. WHAT, then, am I doing here? Well, I'm on my lunch break, waiting to return to my -incredibly fulfilling- job at a BT call centre.
Hullo, dis ma first blog. Intellectual, no?
